Most iOS device users find it a good time killer to play some videos, movies and music on iPod, iPad or iPhone on the way to work, in the airport and etc. However, to transfer the multimedia content to iPhone, iPad or iPod is nothing simple to a majority of people if they still use the traditional way-sync the video and audio files via iTunes to the device.
Syncing the audio and video files always consumes plenty of time and effort. Moreover, if the video is not compatible with your device, you have to convert it to H.264 or MP4 using video converting software. Now an alternative way of transferring media content is going to resolve this-streaming video/ music to the device wirelessly with Air Playit.
Air Playit is a free video audio streaming app which is capable of streaming 320 different video and audio formats on the fly with Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G network. By converting and transmitting the multimedia content continuously and smoothly, Air Playit enables users to remote play any video, movie or song saved on the home computer anywhere, saving all the trouble to sync the media content, convert video format and delete the file when the storage is full.
Air Playit consists of two parts: a server that works on your home Mac or PC and a client app that runs on your iPod, iPad or iPhone. The server part is mainly for users to add video/music folders to be streamed, set permission to the shared folders etc, and the client app connects with the server via network to get the media streamed from the server.
Users could download Air Playit server in Mac or Windows edition to the computer and the corresponding client app for the device.
Servers supported:
Windows OS (XP, 2000, Vista, Windows 7)
Mac OS (Leopard/Snow Leopard/ Lion)
Client supported:
iOS: Apple iPad, iPhone, iPod touch with iOS 4.2.1 and above

Setting up the server on the computer just involves installing the application and adding the folder of videos/music or an iTunes playlist to be streamed. Other options that you many need are also available- “Information” tab shows you the IP address and port information of your home computer; “Permission” tab allows you to set the PIN of Admin, Kid and Public to avoid unauthorized access; “Conversion” tab list the videos which are being converted when you remote manage the server with your device; “Web” will allow you access audio video added in shared folder via any web browser.
Launch the client app on your device, then it will automatically discover the local server by Bonjour Server. If sometimes the Bonjour connection information fails, you could specify the server address manually by filling the IP Address, Port, PIN, etc.
With that done, you’re free to browse your list of folders or iTunes playlists, select any video or song file you are interested in, tap “Play” and you could enjoy it instantly without waiting at all!
