Google Chrome 5.0 Stable Released

It is a good news for Google Chrome lovers. Google has released new Google Chrome 5.0. Some new features based on their Official Blog such as:

Today’s stable release also comes with a host of new features. You’ll be able to synchronize not only bookmarks across multiple computers, but also browser preferences — including themes, homepage and startup settings, web content settings, preferred languages, and even page zoom settings. Meanwhile, for avid extensions users, you can enable each extension to work in incognito mode through the extensions manager.

Our stable release also incorporates HTML5 features such as Geolocation APIs, App Cache, web sockets, and file drag-and-drop. For a taste of HTML5’s powerful features, try browsing through websites developed in HTML5 such as scribd.com, dragging and dropping attachments in Gmail, or by enabling the geolocation functionality in Google Maps.

3 Chrome Extensions to Show Alexa Rank

After my previous post about alexa rank addon for Firefox, I would like to inform you about the alexa rank extensions (addon) for Chrome. Google Chrome on Mac

Google Chrome is already available for Mac OSX. It is still beta version but you can try it to feel the power of Chrome runs on Mac. Google really works hard for it to create simple interface design, integrate beautiful OSX-style animations and effects to make satisfying browsing experience. Google try to make Chrome a native application for Mac. How about the speed of Chrome on Mac? Google claims that the speed is really fast like what they said in this quote

— there’s hardly even time for the icon in the dock to bounce! -Google

As you know that Mac has already great browser, Safari. I think Chrome will try to take over some Safari users. But as a smart user, you can decide what your favorite browsers to use, Chrome or Safari. You can compare the features. Chrome now supports extensions like Firefox. I don’t really know much about Safari plugin or add-on instead of its awesome speed.

The Power of Google Chrome Extensions

If you are Mozilla Firefox freaks, you must know about Firefox Add-On. Now, Chrome has it but it is called Extensions. To use Extensions, you have to use the latest version of Google Chrome. The version of Chrome I’m using now is 4.0.xx. You should update if you are still using under mine. Anyway, many extensions are available and can be categorized based on functionalities such as

2 Tips in Google Chrome to Search Text

When you want to search a text in Google Chrome, there are two simple tips that you can do. First, you select the text and right click then choose “search Google For blablabla”.

The second one is dragging the text to omnibox. Omnibox is a place where you type the url address. The step is select the text, hold it and drag it to Omnibox.

Google chrome will find the text in your default search engine automatically. So, hope these tips are useful for your Chrome daily use. ^_^

Google Chrome : See Memory Usage for Each Tab

In this post, I would like to share a very useful tips when using Google Chrome. As you may know that Google Chrome separates each tabs as different process. So, if you want to know how many memory usage for each tab in Google Chrome, here is the way.

1. Go to at right top in Google Chrome Window

2. Choose “Developer” => “Task manager”

There is a shortcut for easy and faster access to open this memory usage window. You just need to press SHIFT + ESC on your keyboard. Hope this tutorial is useful for you.

Create Application Shortcut with Google Chrome

This is such a cool feature from Chrome. If you are addicted to a website such as Facebook or Twitter, you can create a shortcut to allow you directly access your favorite website. This shortcut can be placed on Desktop, Start Menu or Quick Launch as like as common shortcut. In this post, I’m going to show the detail step how to create application shortcut with Google Chrome.

1. Open your favourite website with Google Chrome Browser
2. Go to this icon at right top of Chrome

3. Choose the most top option “Create application shortcuts…”

4. You can choose where you want to put your shortcut. There are three locations: Desktop, Shortcut Menu and Quick Launch Bar.

5. Voila……That’s it. If you choose “Desktop” you can see your shortcut there.

Next time if you want to access your favourite website, you just click this shortcut and Google Chrome will open its shortcut window. The main difference between the browser and its shorcut window is this window doesn’t have tabs, menu, address bar, and bookmark. But if you click a link in new tab inside shortcut window, it will be opened in the browser.

Chrome Experiments

In order to prepare for HTML 5 that will be a standard in modern browser, Google has launched Chrome Experiments. It is a place where we can see some innovative experiments using the power of HTML 5 and Javascript. The total of experiments is more than 50 and counting. From all, these are my favourites:

1. 100 tweets

100 tweets - HTML Canvas and Audio Tag

100 tweets aims to show 100 tweets post related to HTML 5. It is created with the support of HTML 5′s canvas and audio tag.

2. Canvas 3D engine

Canvas 3D engine

The purpose is to show some flickr images in 3D environment. It is very creative and wonderful creation. If you click on the surface, you can see a random flickr image.

3. Google Gravity

Google Gravity

This experiment shows you a Google Search page comes down. Very interesting because you can also drag each items like you can drag the logo, you can drag the search text area, you can drag the links.

4. Google Sphere

Google Sphere

Almost same like Google Gravity, it plays with Google but Google Image Search. When you enter a query, you can all the image results floating around to make sphere effect. Really cool!

5. JS Fireworks

JS Fireworks

The purpose is to create fireworks effect. The main interesting part is you can insert what text will be appeared after fireworks are launched.

6. Ball Pool

Ball Pool

It is all about making pool full of ball. Try shake your browser, all balls will move. It is very fun.

Review Google Chrome Beta

Google is still developing its great browser, Google Chrome. New version of Google Chrome will be coming out soon. Before that, Google has released its beta version (3.0.195.6). Regardless from what happens, this browser has been included with fresh features. I’ve just tried it and I’m going to make some reviews about these new features.

1. New Tab Revolution

Google Chrome has made some improvements step to make New Tab page better. Now, it has “pin” to make a website always appears on page and “close” to make a website is not showed on page. You decide this. You can also see two views here, they are Thumbnail View and List View. Last, you can customize its layout for filtering what information you want to see. The default layout consist of Thumbnail, Recent Activities and Even More.

2. Themes

Now, you can customize Google Chrome skin. There are 29 skins available at first time. You can choose what your favourite is. Google said that they will add more themes for its release version. It is great features from Google Chrome.

3. Improved Omnibox

Omnibox is name of address bar where you always type your destination url. The improvement is your suggested urls are iconized now. It will help you distinguish between suggested sites, searches, bookmarks, and sites from your browsing history.

4. HTML 5 Support

Of course, Google Chrome will support the next generation of HTML, HTML 5. I still don’t get further information about this but it will handle video tag and web workers.

6. Speedier, Faster and Smarter

We need this. Faster is better while browsing. Google Chrome has been impoved its engine to make it faster than before. Google Chrome is also smarter because it will prioritize pages for example when you open new page while other page is still loading, Google Chrome will display content for your new page first than old one.

Conclusion

Even though it is still beta, Google Chrome is still worth to try. I’m using it right now and I feel satisfy with it. The release version will be very much better than beta. So, be patient for that.
