How to Set Default Search Engine and Speed Dial on Opera

Hello everybody,

In this post, I’m gonna share tips how to set your default search engine for Opera browser. If you open the speed dial page, the default search engine is Bing. But you can set it to another search engine like Google. How to do it? Follow my steps

1. Choose Manage Search Engine

Open your speed dial page on Opera and choose the search engine icon, then click Manage Search Engine

2. Choose a Search Engine

In this example, I show you how to set google for default search engine. First, choose Google search engine and then click Edit

3. Click Details and Check the Checkboxes

Yay, we almost finished. First, click Details and check both of options like image below. Then click OK

Yes, we finished guys. When you open your speed dial again, you will see that Google has been set as default search engine. Feel free to ask me if you have any problem. So, what do you think about this tips?

Two most famous search engines now in one page. It is Bingle. By visiting this site, you can get two searching results one from Bing and one from Google.

Submit Your Blog to Search Engine

Do you have a blog? If you have, you must want your blog being indexed by search engine. The purpose is to get more visitors coming to your blog and read some your great articles. Here, I will show you the tutorial how to submit your blog to three biggest search engine. Just fill the information listed on each page.

1. Submit to Google

For Yahoo, there are two options here. You can submit your website and you can also submit your feed. Fill them both if you want.

Bing, Another Great Search Engine

After sticking with Microsoft Live Search, Microsoft has launched its new innovation search engine called Bing. The name is not really popular but it will be well-known for sure. I have been playing with Bing for about two days and it is time for me to review the functionalities comparing to Google. I’ll try it by inserting some keywords. (click the title to go to bing with related keyword and click image to see the larger version)

1. Barbie
You must know it, mustn’t you? Very famous doll. The images of Barbie is also displayed and at left sidebar you can also see related search list

2. Reog (images)
Reog is famous dance from Ponorogo, Indonesia. You can see thumbnail larger and information about website and size of image if you hover over the image. Some options are also available in left sidebar such as size, layout, color, style, and people. You can play with it to get more specific images result.

3. Bali (videos)

One of beautiful island and the most favorite destination of Indonesia tourism. Let we see if there are some videos about Bali. You can play the video by hovering over it.

For video searching, I have to change my country from Indonesia to United States because there is no videos searching option for Indonesia Setting.

4. Bali (maps)

You can also see map location of a place. I tried Bali as my keyword and I got this from Bing

Conclusion
Bing looks so promising as a new search engine. Have great and innovative features. It is much much better than Live Search. However, doing head to head between Bing and Google, I will choose Google. It is still the market leader. I think Google team is really busy with Bing now.

WolframAlpha beats Google

Never heard about WolframAlpha? This is a new search engine but not ordinary search engine. It is a computational knowledge search engine. Instead of searching web, the result of WolframAlpha is from computations of its own knowledge base. In other words, the result is not only web and link but answer. So, this will be the main benefit of using WolframAlpha than Google.

So, let test the ability of WolframAlpha by inserting some questions.

1. Who is the president of United States?
You can see the result like this one

Yay, we got the answer, “Barrack Obama” with also some useful informations about him. Awesome!

2. Where is tokyo?
Wow, the result is not only Tokyo but also a map of it. It sounds great, isn’t it?

Wait, you will also get the detail informations about Tokyo if you choose “Location” on that page.

3. tan x
Yup, another things I want to try is inserting mathematic formula. Let’s check the result.
