Browsershots is a website to create many screenshots of your web design in different browsers. It is created by Johann C. Rocholl and it is FREE. More than 90 browsers are supported such as Dillo, Epiphany, SeaMonkey, Firefox, Opera, Safari, IE, Chrome, Flock, Avant, and many more. It supports up to 4 different platforms such as Linux, Windows, Mac OS, and BSD. You can see your screenshots for same browser but in different platform for example Firefox 3.5 in Linux and Firefox 3.5 in Windows. Very Nice!
Some optional features that you can consider such as screen size, javascript, flash, java and color depth. Maybe you want enable flash or disable javascript or set the screen size 1152 pixels wide for your screenshot, you can do it here.
The mechanism is when you submit your website, it will be added to the job queue. Some distributed computers will open your website in their browser. Then they will make screenshots and upload them to the central server. Then you can see the result. When I tried to see my weblog in 55 browsers, I failed because the expired times for 30 minutes is over. Then I decided to reduce browsers to 15 and I got to wait about 3 minutes. It is fine if you bookmark the result page first and come back later.
Here is the result of my weblog’s screenshots and unfortunately some screenshots can’t be rendered correctly (I don’t know why)
Conclusion
BrowserShots makes our web design development easier. Instead of checking our web design manually in browser, it makes this process faster. It supports more than 90 browser and 4 different platforms.
